$12 mosquito nets for MalawiMy goal is to raise money for as many nets as possible before I leave for my trip to Malawi in May.Why Mosquito Nets?Malawi is a part of Africa with a prominent issue of Malaria. Malaria is caused by blood parasites transmitted from person to person through the bites of infected mosquitoes. In the absence of prompt and effective treatment, Malaria often causes death. Sleeping with a mosquito net over your bed is an effective way to avoid being bitten by mosquitos as they usually only come out at night when the climate is cooler. Most mothers in the villages we will be visiting do not have the means to afford a mosquito net for their families. A 12$ mosquito net is worth more than a months salary to a mother in Malawi. Why are we going to Malawi?20 nursing and education students from the University of Lethbridge are going to Malawi for a field study from May 7th-June 3rd. We will be visiting a new village each day and be teaching students in the schools about HIV and AIDS prevention. When visiting the villages each day we will be bringing mosquito nets for the families in most need. The more money we raise the more mosquito nets we will be able to give out.Every donation counts! Thank you so much for your help! :)
