My Momma was admitted to the ICU on July 2nd with a rare condition called Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. The etiology is unknown but her immune system is attacking and destroying her red blood cells. When your red blood cell count is low it causes extreme fatigue just trying to breathe, talk, move, etc. and lack of oxygen going to all your organs. Due to this getting worse very quickly she now has pneumonia in both lungs and both kidneys are failing. She has had 3 blood transfusions this week. After 5 days in the ICU, dozens of CT scans, MRIs and biopsy’s we are still waiting for the doctors to find the root cause so we can move forward with treatment. Sounds like they may decide to do chemo this fall/winter due to something with her red blood cells (sorry it’s a lot of information we are getting) which is going to take a major toll on her energy levels along with multiples trips weekly to the hospital. She is doing better today and we are so grateful for all the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff that have been treating my Mom with the best care! In the meantime we need to build a new porch that includes modified stairs and a ramp for house access. We also need to install a new bathtub that has a door on it and a seat inside. These bathtubs start around $4,000 for the kind we need to install not including installation and labor. There are some other modifications we will need to do also to make the house accessible for when Mom returns home (hopefully by next week)! If you have anything you would like to donate to help us start these modifications as soon as possible that would be so greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate financially we would greatly appreciate any prayers sent our way for a fast and healthy recovery. Thanks to all and God Bless
