My name is Mein, one of 8 kids born to Elilia Samala. I am running this fundraising campaign to help my mom in her dire medical need, and to help those who help her. I am thousands of miles away from my mother, and this is how I may be able to help. At 83, my mom has become more frail and she broke her hip recently. I've always known her as having a very independent spirit and she likes to go out and take long walks to and from the market and around town. But after a few other medical conditions (a recent eye surgery), she's become physically weaker but her need for activity has not. One day, she slipped and fell. She does not have medical insurance, but my youngest sister found a government hospital (in the Philippines) that admitted her. The hospital covered much of the cost, but there are several things such as some special tests and particularly the cost of the hip replacement are not covered. With difficulty, my siblings are attempting to raise some money for these critical needs, and for the providing of care. Additionally, my siblings have been taking turns staying with our mom who is bedridden and attached with metal rods drilled into a harness that raises her lower limb to alleviate any pressure on the broken hip. I cannot imagine the pain and misery she is going through. They have delayed the hip surgery for weeks now, in order for her to recover her strength somewhat. I decided that a crowdsourcing effort could significantly fill in the gaps, and relieve some challenging financial strain on my siblings who have their own families to support. I feel that a crowdsourcing effort could significantly fill in the gaps. The money will go to the costs of her care, including the metal hip replacement, and nursing care, including support for keeping an eye on her round the clock. The need for these financial resources has become rather more urgent, as they prepare to have the surgery soon. Your support will mean the world to me, as I am half the world away from my mom.
