Milagros' Journey....First and foremost, thank you for all the support and prayers received in the name of my mom, Milagros Robles aka Millie.Six months ago, Mommy decided to go to the doctor because she wasn't feeling well. The doctor ran some tests and ordered for her to get a CT scan.  The results came back and two days later we were sitting in the specialists' office.  We walked in hesitant, nervous, anxious and definitely not ready to hear what the doctor was about to tell us. He sat us down and without any hesitation said, "Mrs. Robles I'm sorry to be the one to say this but you have pancreatic cancer."  We sat there stunned, shocked, and in disbelief that this was happening. What did this mean? Where do we go from here?  Mommy sat up in her chair, and anyone who knows her knows that she doesn't skip a beat, replied and said, "Ok, so what's the next step, where do we go from here?" Within three days, mom was scheduled for surgery to have her port catheter placed and two days after she would begin chemotherapy treatment. The last six months have been a roller coaster ride to say the least; countless hospital and doctors visits, IV fluids and blood transfusions.  Mommy finished chemotherapy treatment 3 months later and while chemo shrunk the tumor significantly she would not be able to go through with surgery to remove the tumor because of complications. The doctors advised her to go through another 5 weeks of chemo and they would add radiation this time to shrink the tumor further. She was able to complete 3 of the 5 weeks of chemo. Two weeks ago she was admitted into the hospital again for yet another blood transfusion and some more IV fluid treamtent. Another CT scan was performed because of pain she'd been having for the last week or so.  The CT scan revealed that the mass had grown and now it was bigger than when they first found it. It had also revealed the cancer spread to her liver. The doctors advised us that there was nothing more they could do and taking her home and making her comfortable was the best thing for her.  That was unacceptable and I was not going to accept the fact that there was nothing more that could be done. With the help of many friends, I have been doing some research for the last several months about alternative and holistic care. It was with the help of a very close friend who told me about the Hope4Cancer Clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, we will embark on this new journey- an answer of hope and life- A Cure! We will be out there for 3 weeks initially and depending on moms response to treatment it may be extended from anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks. This treatment is not covered by health insurance and we are asking for your support in making this possible.  Any little bit will help and we greatly appreciate your prayers, support and love.
