Hello! My name is Laynett, and I am starting this fundraiser to help the Jagger family cover some of the costs of Mike's medical bills, copays, equipment, etc. I have been a coworker and friend of Mike and his family for 15 years, which is long enough to know that they won't ask for any help, and that's why I'm doing this. Back in February 2024, Mike had a right hip fracture. Because Mike is only in his 50's, doctors were suspicious of what caused his hip fracture at that age. He was sent for a scan. The scan revealed that he had cancer in his hip. He had surgery (Hip Replacement). After more scans and a ton of tests later, he was diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer(NSCLC) Stage 4 (which has metastasized to other organs. )Mike has other pre-existing medical issues also. He and his family were completely blindsided by this diagnosis. It is a devastating reality that he and his family now have to endure. There is no cure for Stage 4 Non-small Cell Lung Cancer, however, Mike has chosen to do chemo treatments along with Immunotherapy to try and control the symptoms of the disease in hopes of giving him more quality time with his family and loved ones. Mike is a father of 4. 2 Daughters (one passed in 2016) and 2 Sons. He is a Grandfather of 5 grandkids that he adores. He is a husband of 28 years. Over the years, Mike and his wife have contributed and volunteered their help to so many events in this community where he was born and raised. He spent just short of 25 years serving his community as a Firefighter/ MFR (17 of those years as Captain.) He spent many years helping people and also raising money for fundraisers such as MDA. He spent time on the Genesee County Training Committee, where he was proud to help with the new oncoming firefighters in the Fire Academy. He couldn't be more proud that his eldest son is carrying on the tradition, and recently also became a Firefighter. Mike created Stephano, the zombie, while working at a local haunted attraction called Spooky Trails. Using the Stephano character, Mike would show up to dozens of fundraisers for people with all kinds of hardships, as well as fundraisers and events for the Red Cross, Children Maricle Network, Scares For Cares, Jeepers Creeker's, and various others, some of them being down in/near the Detroit area. So now you have an idea of the person he is, (If you didn't already know him,) Spending most of his life helping out where he can. Mike is a very modest person and wouldn't ask for help as most of us wouldn't. The medical bills keep rolling in, in the thousand's for each treatment. That's just for the treatments co-pay! I am asking for donations to be able to lighten the load of some of his worries! The money will go directly to Mike so it can immediately start being used for all of his cancer-related expenses, such as medical bills, co-pays, any equipment and future equipment needed, Etc.
