First of all, thank you for taking the time to read our father's story. Our dad, Michael Griffin is not only that. He is a husband, a brother, and a grandfather. He has been a steward to the people serving as a police officer for almost 20 years. He has always been very independent and helping others but as of July 13,2015 his health began to deteriorate. He suffered two heart attacks and went through open heart surgery (double bypass) and during recovery he suffered two strokes. Our dad is a fighter and he took the challenge to get back on his feet and be independent head on. He continued to say he wanted to get back healthy enough to join back with the police force. He came a long way in a short period of time but recently we all received news that shocked our family to the core. He began suffering complications from fluid building up on his lungs. The doctor said it was common for patients to have fluid build up after heart surgery. The doctors tested the fluid and the results came back that they found cancer cells in the fluid. The doctors ran more tests to get a better understanding of what was going on and on October 25 the doctors told our family that my dad has Stage IV lung cancer and will need to begin chemotherapy immediately. He will not be able to work again and there is a strong possibility that he will be losing his benefits very soon. My mother, Rose, has been taking care of our dad and while doing so she has had to miss work. Our family has been faced with numerous bills for his exams, therapy, and frequent doctor visits. The Griffin family is asking for continued prayers as he fights this tough battle. We hope you find it in your heart to donate to our father's fund as it would mean so much to our family. Thank you again for taking the time to hear our story. - Mike, Rose, Tim, Carl & Keiko Griffin
