On July 27th my aunt and cousin were delivered with news that no parent should have to receive, the passing of her oldest son Miguel Alvarado. Miguel’s loved ones can attest he was a 6ft giant teddy bear that gave the best hugs. He loved deeply and gave what he could without hesitation. His big quirky smile, bright red suit and “white kicks” is how he would show up dressed to impress. His love for music surely drove his neighbors mad with him scratching up some beats on his turn tables at 4 A.M. What Miguel will most be remembered for is how his world changed when he found out he was going to be a father. Being a father is what Miguel took pride in most. Miguel leaves behind the biggest piece of his heart, his son Joaquin. Joaquin is 8 and unfortunately will have to know his father through memories. Miguel had big dreams for his son and always wanted him to be taken care of. Joaquin is a gorgeous smart boy who is quick-witted. This funny boy admired his dad and made sure the world knew it. He would often introduce himself as “My dad is Locs, but you can call me Little Locs”. Children shouldn’t have to grow up without their fathers. Unfortunately, this is Joaquin’s new reality of learning to live without his dad. This LFEBridge has been set up to help raise money for Joaquin’s future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Miguel’s memorial LFEBridge for Joaquin.
