Update 7/20/23 #2 Here is another update today from Miranda that I wanted to share because it’s so exciting: #mightyMiller #1: Y'all, he WALKED into the children's hospital in Oklahoma on Friday, June 30th! Due to the dangerous and aggressive form of AML he has, along with the delay of care that we received, he was no longer moving much at all and in excruciating pain by the time we got him out of there and to St. Jude's on Monday, July 3rd!!! But God! TODAY, with the help of PT, he stood up with his walker and took a few steps. LET'S GOOOO! #2: He fell hard asleep after getting Benadryl as a precaution before he gets blood products. If you look closely, you can see he is getting blood! There are a lot of things at play to help Miller, including BLOOD & BLOOD PRODUCTS! Please donate if you can! It would mean the World to us! It quite literally could help someone, like Miller, to save their life! Update 7/20/23 Miller is getting “discharged” today! They don't keep kids inpatient at St Jude’s like they do evervwhere else. They assign each family an apartment on campus called the Target House. They have trained Miranda on how to do most of Miller’s medical care including IV antibiotics, flushing lines and taking vitals. They also have an area at the Target House with a teen room where no parents are allowed lol, a huge playground, bikes, all the gaming systems, a music room, and an art room. It’s pretty amazing and helps lift their spirits! He will still be going back and forth for lots of appointments but being in a home setting with access to neat activities when he is feeling up to it will do wonders for his morale! His ANC is at zero now which means he has absolutely no immune system so they do have to be careful about that. If anyone is sick they are not allowed to be around him. All four kids will be there visiting this next week so that will be amazing to have the whole family together again and just what their hearts need! We so appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, encouraging messages, cards, gifts and donations! It takes a tribe and we are so thankful!! It’s exactly where he needs to be and he has received incredible treatment already! They have experienced true kindness from everyone they’ve encountered and they feel very blessed to be there but they are all missing home already! Miller is still spiking fevers but his WBC count has gone from over 130k down to 1k which is a great response already! He will have a lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy and more chemo today.
