Hi, my name is Rhonda Gagnon. I am Michel's wife. Last year Michel was diagnosed with cancer in his nose. He had his first surgery on August 4th, 2024, with a local surgeon here in Prince George, BC. Not long after his surgery, the surgeon went on holiday for a month. By the time he got to see the surgeon in October, the cancer had grown back bigger. Michel was then referred to another surgeon in Vancouver, BC. On December 1st Michel had his second surgery. This time when they did the surgery they did an invasive scrap to make sure they got every bit of the cancer. Through all this, we have been trying to make ends meet. He was on Blue Cross benefits but we exhausted that, then we went on Short term medical EI, we were just told today that we have 1 week left and then we have no more income. They told us to try and apply for welfare. Michel is still waiting for the surgeon in Vancouver to call with an appointment to remove the tubes in his nose. It's been 6 weeks already but I think the surgeon wants to wait till 8 weeks has passed. We then will have to go back to Vancouver. Even after they remove the tubes he will probably have another 4 weeks to heal from that and then he will be able to go back to work. So until he gets back to work we are stuck with no money and monthly bills and payments stacking up. We just need some help to make it to where Michel is back working. We don't want to have to ask for welfare, we would rather someone else who needs it gets it. We have both been very humbled through this medical journey the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming from family and friends. We just need a little more help to see us through this short time.
