As many of you have heard, our good friend Michael Pounds, was in a motorcycle accident Saturday July 2nd on his way home from Colorado. He was life flighted to Kadlec in Richland with facial fractures, broken nose, a broken vertebrae, collapsed lung and bad road rash on his arms and back. He is talking, breathing on his own and has no signs of brain damage or long lasting effects. He had surgery Sunday to repair his nose and upper jaw and vertebrae. He’s exhausted but in good spirits and will have a journey for healing and recovery. Update: Surgeries were long but everything went well. He’s resting now. They had to wire his jaw shut so eating and talking is difficult. They’re going to keep him a few more days at least. To answer a few questions: We’re not sure why Michael lost control of his bike, there are theories (sand on roadway, deer, etc) but we just know it went down and he was thrown and he was wearing his helmet. As of right now, he remembers nothing of the accident. Second: While he did fracture a cervical disc in his spine, surgery fused it and the spinal cord was not effected. ( he is not paralyzed nor does he have any weakness) Right now we’re needing prayers for the swelling to go down on his face so he can open his eyes more and for him to improve his breathing with a wired jaw. His wife, Sarah, and their two kids could also use prayer for peace and comfort through this healing process. All funds will go toward helping the family pay for medical expenses.
