For those of you who may not know, Melissa’s health has been declining over the last couple years, but it has taken an especially bad turn within the last few months. She has been in and out of the hospital regularly over the past few months with the hospital stays becoming more frequent and longer in duration. She has been struggling with so many health issues including diabetes, high blood pressure, end stage kidney failure, dialysis, gastroparesis, multiple toe amputations, a heel wound, as well as fighting a serious infection for well over a year. Her poor body has been through so much! Her recent and rapid decline has been due to her having a large number of strokes, they estimate she has had upwards of 40 strokes. They are becoming more frequent and more severe to varying degrees, and although the doctors have tried every test and scan they can think of to try and narrow down the cause, they have been unable to determine what is causing her strokes. She has also recently just started having seizures. They have just diagnosed her with vascular dementia, which has been devastating as there is no cure. Unfortunately, the hospital feels they have done all that they can do for her, and they are going to discharge Melissa this weekend. With her declining mental and physical state she is in desperate need of in-home nurse care, as she is no longer able to care for herself, and her care is beyond the scope of the families ability by themselves. They are currently trying to get her transferred to UCLA to see if there is anything more they might be able to do for her there. Mike has missed as much work as he is able to, and is the sole provider for their family. We are asking, if you are able to please help the Bunker family in any possible way, can you please donate toward the continued, and increasing medical costs they are facing. Melissa has always been one to help anyone in need, in any way she could. Please let’s help her, and her family in their desperate time of need. Anything at all will help and is SO much appreciated, as it will all make such a huge difference for them. Thank you so much to anyone that is able to help! (Organized by: Tessa, Tiffany and Tawnia)
