Hey y’all! Goal I want to surprise Meghan with a fresh, clean, organized, healthy bedroom for when she gets out of the hospital, since she will be spending a ton of time at her place for her recovery and doing daily dialysis treatments at home. The photo above is the look I'm going for (white walls with pops of gaudy-chic). I will post before and after pics for everyone to see how it turned out. I found an art print, a leopard throw pillow, a pink and red throw blankt, and an emerald green velvet bed that are very similar to the inspo pic. Problem with the current set up • No storage space • Plastic mini blinds that aren’t great for her fragile lungs and collect tons of dust that's almost impossible to wash off • It gets bright in her bedroom around 4:30am, which affects her sleep quality • Temporary metal bed frame that is super uncomfortable (sinks down in the middle) and noisy • Poor lighting that’s hard to turn on and off • No place to put stuff which makes the room feel stressful • She hates her closet doors (they're ugly) Solution I’ve put together an IKEA and Home Depot cart with all the basics that are required to achieve the following goals: • A real bed (green velvet) • White zero VOC paint • White velvet blackout curtains that will cover one entire wall • White duvet and pillow cases that we can bleach when needed • Leopard accent pillow • Crane artwork from Etsy • Artwork frame • Trones for storage (mostly for her shoes) • A bedside lamp • White faux fur rug we bleach and toss in the washer • Wireless button controls (so she can turn on and off lights from her bed) • Cabinets in the dining room to put extra pantry stuff • Cloth boxes to put clothes in • Zhuzh up the closet doors The IKEA total came out to $1,620. The art print, paint, throw blanket, closet door accessories, and wireless buttons to control the lights, will come to at least another $400. So I estimate $2,000 should get us really close!
