Hi, my name is Anthony, I'm a graduate of West Virginia University and currently work as a wellness specialist at the WVU Health Sciences Center. I'm here today on behalf of my good friend Seth. Seth is a 33-year-old employee of Sodexo working full-time in collaboration with WVU dining services & catering. Seth absolutely LOVES: -The outdoors -WVU Basketball & Football -The Pittsburgh Steelers -Trips to Washington, D.C. -Walking, Bowling, Exercising -Hanging with good friends That’s the only fun stuff, unfortunately. As many of you know there can be hard times in life, both expected and unexpected. Seth has fought off a variety of medical challenges, several since birth, related to his heart and kidneys that have required regular doctor's visits and overwhelming medicine costs. The effects of those medical and financial challenges have created immense day-to-day quality of life hardship in addition to affecting Seth's mental and emotional well-being. Despite the challenges he has faced, Seth has still maintained a fighting Mountaineer spirit. Seth bleeds WVU GOLD & BLUE, in that He has a heart of GOLD and a True BLUE collar work ethic. Seth has refused to accept SSI (Supplemental Security Income from disability) which would require him NOT to work (yes you read that right) just to get government funds and better medical insurance. Instead, Seth TRULY ENJOYS WORKING and does so 30-40 hours a week. And he will walk just about ANYWHERE. Averaging no less than 5 miles daily and will often times walk farther, whether to work, just to get around town, or for leisure. Frequent activity and movement have led to Seth losing over 50 POUNDS in the past couple of years. Most of Seth’s paycheck is consumed by inflated rent costs, medical bills, and medicine leaving less funds available for other necessities. Seth has recently been reliant upon free meals and assistance at a local church just to get by. As Seth’s friend we want him to have the necessary support and resources he needs to live up to his most optimum quality of life. We appreciate any amount you’re able to commit to supporting Seth. Areas of Medical/Wellness Assistance for Seth -Monthly Medicine ($100-150) -Doctor’s Visits ($200 co-pay) -Healthy Food + Supplements ($445/monthly) -Gym Membership ($350/year or $29/monthly) -Transportation (bus fare or rideshare when not walking) -Comfortable Shoes (walks so much that his shoes wear out easily) Ideally, we would like to secure a year's worth of foundational resources for Seth. And of course, he loves snacks, we want him to enjoy (some of) the healthy sweetness of life, too. If you made it this far know that a share is just as important of a contribution. Thank you so much for your consideration. -Anthony
