Hi, my name is Shelly Green and I'm fundraising for Kim & Danny Hood for medical bills as well as travel expenses. Kim is my sister-in-law and I couldn't love her any more if she was blood. She married my brother, Danny, in 1993 and they have been inseparable ever since. They are the definition of what love and companionship should be. Kim was diagnosed with stomach cancer in October 2024 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She had surgery to remove her stomach but unfortunately, the cancer had spread to the lining of her abdomen. Although the recent scans show it hasn't grown, it also hasn't shrunk. They are traveling to Vanderbilt at least every other week and sometimes even weekly. On the weeks they don't go to Vanderbilt, they travel to North Alabama Medical Center for Kim to get a paracentesis to remove the fluid that's building in her abdomen. The last month has been super tough. After 2 ER visits, she was admitted to Vanderbilt on Thursday, June 29, and wasn't released until Tuesday, July 4. She is actually on her way back to the ER at Vanderbilt as I type this. She is having a lot of trouble with severe, debilitating pain after she eats as well as nausea, and they are not sure what is causing it. The copay alone is between $1,200-$1,300 every time she is admitted. The medical bills are piling up along with travel expenses. They both still work every chance they get and their employer has been very understanding, but they definitely need some additional income to cover some of the expenses. She has not been well enough to receive a chemo treatment since the first week of June. If you find it in your heart to give, please know that it will be greatly appreciated. If you're not able to give, please send up prayers for them, as well as their care team at Vanderbilt. Much love and thanks to all!
