Ivy Ann Lindhorst was welcomed into this world on June 12th, 2024- a 4 lb 14oz bundle of sweetness whose first 3 weeks of life were spent in the NICU for trouble feeding associated with reasons that are still being determined at the time of writing. Thankfully, Ivy stabilized well enough to FINALLY come home with her family just in time for the 4th of July! While this is a long-awaited, momentous, and joyous occasion, it also means the medical bills will start hitting her parents very shortly, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Numerous genetic tests, imagings, and labs have revealed very little at this point. What we do know is that Ivy has a heart condition (coarctation of the aorta), scoliosis, kidney problems (hydronephrosis) and a couple of low oxygen points in the brain (periventricular ischemia). Doctors believe these conditions and her small size are linked to a genetic mutation that has not yet been diagnosed. They have said that she will likely experience developmental and physical delays, but we are not sure how severe at this point. It's certain that many specialists (physical and occupational, diagnostic, cardiology, nephrology, audiology, ophthalmology, with possible surgeries) will be involved with her treatment. Anyone who has met Erich & Thena knows they both are generous in love, spirit, friendship & family...let's work together to help lessen the burden on this family so they can focus more on what matters on this journey!
