Hi, we are the children of my mother, Dawn De La Garza. She suffered a stroke on July 5th, 2024. That same evening she was transferred to St. Luke’s Baptist hospital in San Antonio. When she left Del Río she still had movement on her left side, by the time she arrived to San Antonio she had lost all movement on the left side. She spent a week on the Stroke Floor and then was transferred to in-patient rehab within the same hospital. As of today, 7/25/2024, she will continue with in-patient rehab and the Doctor will reevaluate her weekly to decide when she is allowed to come home, looking at another 2 week minimum stay. Our mother does have insurance but her percentage has already started to add up with the bills we have started to receive on her behalf. If you know my mom she is always willing to give and help when needed and while we have come together as her children we have decided to setup this fund to help offset her medical bills, her co-pays, and anything the insurance is not able to fully cover. My mother is eager to get back to work and we ask for your prayers that she can walk again soon. We understand times are tough for everyone right now. Every little bit helps.
