On Saturday, July 8, 2024, Harold was involved in a horrific accident. While at Advanced Auto in Charles Town, Harold’s truck broke down and he had to have it towed home. After arriving home, Harold wanted to see which cable under the gear shift was broken while the dump truck was still on the tow truck. Unbeknownst to Harold, the dump truck was never cabled nor chained down to the bed of the tow truck, and as he touched the cable, it caused his truck to drop into reverse, shifting itself down off the tow truck with Harold trapped under the carriage (aka pumpkin). As the truck continued to roll down the bed of the tow truck, Harold was dragged along with it, ultimately ending up crushed and trapped under the pumpkin of his truck, unable to breath until the tow driver was able to lift the truck off of him. As you can imagine, Harold has numerous injuries and will require Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy and a nurse visit at least three times each week. Harold is very lucky to be alive and Kimm is grateful to have him back home where she can care for him. This is where they need our help. Harold is a small business owner and relies on WVU Cares as health insurance. Due to the excruciating pain and severity and of his injuries, Harold was transferred to a facility outside of West Virginia. The care he received in Virginia and associated costs are not covered by WVU Cares. This accident has not only caused a loss of income for Harold and Kimm but mounting medical bills as well. In fact, this accident comes right on the heels of Kimm’s knee replacement surgery and emergency to repair a torn ligament and tendon. We are trying to raise funds to help cover the medical bills and loss of income. They are grateful for all the prayers and well wishes everyone has sent their way! If you cannot donate you can help by sharing his story and keeping Harold in your prayers. Crush injuries sustained: • Closed fracture of 8 ribs with flail chest.
