Hi, my name is Shona English and I'm raising money to help my sister-in-law Jessy English. As some of you know Jessy went to the emergency room Sunday, July 30th with debilitating pain in her side. The doctor ordered some imaging and gave Jessy Pepcid to help alleviate the pain. She assumed the doctors would come back and tell her she was suffering from gas and send her on her way, even joking with her mom, "See I told you they are gonna say I have gas and I'm gonna feel stupid". Following Jessy's CT scan the doctor returned to inform her she has a mass on her right lung and suspicious lesions on her liver. She was immediately admitted and moved to the oncology unit. Jessy couldn't believe it. She thought they must be looking at the wrong patient chart. Unfortunately, it wasn't a mistake. As days went on and more imaging, tests and biopsies were completed, the oncologist sat down with Jessy and her family to deliver the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 lung cancer that has metastasized to her liver, bone, and kidney. We are all heartbroken. Although there is no cure there is treatment to give Jessy quality of life and more time to spend with her family, friends, and loved ones. These treatments, however, will be expensive with little to no coverage under Jessy's health plan, and with Jessy unable to work now finances are becoming worrisome. So we are asking all of our friends near and far to please help if you can, and lessen this burden on Jessy so she can solely focus on fighting this horrible disease.
