Hi my name is Erin and I am starting a fund to help with medical expenses associated with our daughter who will be born via induction on August 14. When we went to our 20 week ultrasound they found an anomaly in her heart. They have diagnosed it as transposition of the greater arteries, and found a hole in the heart. Which means that when her heart was forming the main two vessels that take blood to the lungs and to the body got switched. Her body will not receive enough oxygen when she is born. Our care was transferred to a children’s hospital and upon her birth she will be immediately taken to the kids cardio unit for an expected stay of 6+ weeks if all goes well according to the cardio team. Paired with this news we found out my husband’s work would be going bankrupt and closing at the end of July, leaving us scrambling to find a new job and resetting health insurance around the time she’s born. He won’t have the paid paternity leave that we had originally planned. I just graduated graduate school and will finish with my two part time jobs/internships just before she’s born so we depend on his income and insurance which means the timing of the two will make it very difficult on our finances. The funds would be used on her hospital bills that we occur during her stay and help offset any potential costs or expenses during those six weeks. Anything, even thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
