On the night of Wednesday, July 26, 2024, a group of three came to Shane & Melissa's home and threatened their family. Two males hid while waiting for their victim to pull up in the driveway while the female perpetrator was waiting in her vehicle. When the commotion started and in the defense of their children and home both Melissa & Shane ran outside to find that a fight was occurring. While trying to break up the fight, Melissa's leg (the tibial plateau) was broken and will require not only surgery but also 12 weeks off of work. She will be required to use all of her paid time off ( vacation & sick) and placed on FMLA. After her hard-earned sick/vacation leave is used, all time off will be unpaid. Shane did not fair as well. While fleeing the scene, the female in the vehicle ran Shane over dragging him several feet. Breaking his pelvis, tailbone, and other bones. He has been in the ICU since that night and has endured three (3) surgeries, two of which were life-threatening. He has sailed through all of his surgeries and will begin physical therapy, but the road to recovery will be long. This should have never happened, period. This incident threatened the lives of several people and if Shane & Melissa hadn't come to the rescue who knows what could have happened? Thank the Lord that all are recovering, but this has also threatened their livelihood. Both will be out of work for some time and could use the support of their community, friends, and loved ones.
