Hello, as some of you may know and some of you don’t but Matt was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis back in January of this year and it has progressed so rapidly he is currently on a waiting list for a double lung transplant. He was listed yesterday 7/18. We are fundraising to help pay the medical expenses that come along with this as he had to quit his job back in January. He currently has Highmark health insurance but lung transplants in Pittsburgh are only completed at UPMC and some costs aren’t covered including some of the medications he will be taking after the transplant. Also we would like to try to help ease the burden of all his bills during this time. The goal is to raise enough that money is not an issue during this time. Anyone that knows Matt knows how hard of worker he is and how he can’t stand to sit around or even ask for help. But anything will help with his current situation. We will continue to update everyone as we learn more! Donating to Matt's lung transplant fund is not just about providing financial assistance; it's about giving him a chance at a new lease on life and get back to his Civil War reenactments! Even if you cannot donate please share! 8/25 Update: Last week Matt got a call for lungs after a long day waiting in the hospital we were informed the donor lungs were no good. He has had to increase his oxygen which has made things more difficult to do. We are hoping for another call soon. 9/14 Update: We are hosting a benefits spaghetti dinner on Saturday October 21st. Tickets are $20 with a chance to win a set of Pens tickets. Tickets will be available at the door. Come join us and support Matt as he continues on this journey! 12/30 update: Shortly after the amazing turnout we had at the spaghetti dinner and just in time for the holidays. Matt received his transplant on 11/7. He only spent 21 days in the hospital. The doctors are amazed at his progress thus far. He is currently working on getting his strength back and sees the doctors weekly. His medication as expected is very expensive but we are trying to get grants to help assist with cost. The money donated to this go fund me has been so helpful. Thank you all for your help and encouragement during that difficult time. Happy New Year can’t wait to see how well his is doing this time next year!!
