Berry Aviation, Inc. is coordinating to make a memorial donation in the name of Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler and would like to extend a non-obligatory invitation to any of our employees interested in making a contribution.   Some of our employees are never offered the opportunity to meet our end-users and customers, but many of those we support through our Government and Specialized Services offerings are truly remarkable human beings willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our great Nation.  Additionally, many of our employees overseas come to BAI from the Military and Special Operations communities and maintain ties and lifelong friendships with these exceptional individuals.  Under these circumstances, this unfortunate occasion is closer to home for some of those at BAI and we would like to show our gratitude for this remarkable Soldier’s sacrifice.   Master Sergeant Wheeler died on Oct 22, 2015 from wounds sustained in combat when he rushed toward enemy gunfire during a joint hostage rescue operation in Hawija, Iraq.  His death marks the first combat casualty in the fight against ISIS and the first in Iraq since November 2011.  Master Sgt. Wheeler was assigned to U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.  He is survived by his wife and children, of which the youngest was born in August 2015.Master Sgt. Wheeler joined the U.S. Army in 1995 as an Infantryman and in 1997 transitioned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.  In 2004 he was assigned to U.S. Army Special Operations Command.  During his career he deployed well over a dozen times, many of which were in support of combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, among other regions.  His awards and decorations are numerous and he was a highly decorated combat Veteran who served our country courageously and selflessly until the moment of his passing.  Within his unit he was both highly respected and admired for his commitment to his teammates, our Nation, and the mission.  Out of respect for the privacy of the fallen, BAI wishes this campaign to remain confidential and requests this invitation not be shared outside of BAI employees.  All funds will be donated to his unit’s benevolent foundation in the name of Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler and/or the Wheeler family if deemed more appropriate.  On behalf of the management of Berry Aviation, Inc., we ask you consider any donation, large or small, in memorial.
