Hey everyone! Meet my friend Madison and her biggest pride and joy; her 2-year-old daughter Ophelia. She is one of the hardest working people, nurses and mothers I know. She is a 6-year Cancer Survivor. She is a person that will drop anything for anyone at any time and go above and beyond for those she loves, her work, her pup and any good cause she can get behind. She is one of my best friends. I met Her when O was about 2 months old and for the past two years I've known them, Madi has had multiple smaller surgeries, hospital stays, chemo & immunotherapy treatments that were, up until this point, successful at keeping the cancer in remission. Sadly, the battle she thought that she had won with her cervical cancer, has come back, and come with bad news. After a positive scan and blood tests a couple of weeks ago, the cancer has now grown again and migrated to a new section of her body, which due to the intensity and location, will require major surgery. Doctors said it is the only way to remove all the affected areas. She will then do 4 weeks of intense immunotherapy afterward along with rehab and medication & hormone therapy. With this being said she is told she has to be out for at least 8 weeks. Madi is a 100% single mom that works full time and that little girl is her world. Everything she works for is her daughter- as is this decision to undergo this major surgery. She has health insurance, but she will still be responsible for 50% of the cost of surgery, plus meds and anesthesia because insurance deems this course of treatment as "elective". That being said, all of Madi's doctors agree it is the best course of treatment and her best shot at getting healthy and cancer free and having any real quality of life. Please help me raise money for Madison’s Mission- the road to being cancer free. Madi is going to be down and out for a long time after this. She needs to be able to take care of all the normal things (child care, rent, food, diapers, wipes.., etc) plus medications, hospital stay, and a whole slew of new medical bills during this time. I want to be able to raise enough money so she can complete the surgery and be able to heal and rest afterward. She is never one to ask and probably won’t like this but anything to help her get through this journey! It’s time to get her cancer free, for good, so she can keep doing the amazing things she does! Anything helps! Whatever we raise will go to her and her daughter directly. She is hurting and she is in a very vulnerable spot right now and I want to help put her mind at ease.
