Hi friends, We are reaching out to you today for support for our precious daughter, Maddie, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 4. This challenging condition has turned our lives upside down, but we remain determined to provide her with the best care and support possible. Maddie's journey with Type 1 diabetes has been arduous, but she has faced it with an unyielding spirit, teaching us the true meaning of resilience. Now, we are embarking on a mission to enhance Maddie's quality of life and ensure her safety by acquiring a diabetic service dog. This will give reassurance on top of the device that we do have (that is not always accurate) for her blood sugar at this time. Anything that helps gives us peace of mind that she is okay, we are all for it. A diabetic service dog would be a true guardian angel for Maddie, watching over her day and night. These specially trained dogs possess an incredible ability to detect fluctuations in blood sugar levels, even before they become critical. They can alert us to high or low blood sugar episodes, allowing us to intervene promptly and prevent potentially life-threatening situations. I am particularly excited about the companionship that she will develop with the dog. I can't imagine how she feels. Imagine the peace of mind we would experience knowing that Maddie has this four-legged friend by her side, offering an extra layer of protection. With a diabetic service dog, Maddie will gain a newfound sense of freedom and independence, as she will no longer need constant supervision. This furry companion will be there for her during school, playtime, and even while she sleeps, ensuring her safety and well-being at all times. However, the cost of obtaining a trained diabetic service dog is substantial. The training, veterinary care, and ongoing support required for these remarkable animals come with a significant price tag. As a hardworking family, we're doing everything we can to provide for Maddie's needs, but we cannot do it alone. This is where we humbly ask for your support and generosity. By making a donation to our LFEBridge campaign, you will be directly contributing to Maddie's well-being and granting her the gift of a diabetic service dog. Your contribution will help alleviate the financial burden associated with this life-changing decision, allowing us to provide Maddie with the support she deserves. For those who may be unfamiliar, Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that affects both children and adults. Unlike Type 2 diabetes, which can often be managed through lifestyle changes, Type 1 diabetes is not preventable or curable. It occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, leaving the body unable to regulate blood sugar levels naturally. Managing Type 1 diabetes is an ongoing and demanding task. Maddie requires regular blood sugar monitoring, insulin injections, and careful attention to her diet and physical activity. Even with our utmost vigilance, there are times when her blood sugar levels may drop dangerously low or spike to hazardous heights, putting her health and well-being at risk. A diabetic service dog would be a game-changer for Maddie. Their incredible sense of smell allows them to detect the subtle changes in blood sugar levels through scent cues, making them highly effective in alerting us to potential emergencies. This early warning system can prevent severe hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia, reducing the risk of seizures, coma, or other life-threatening complications. Your generous support will provide Maddie with a constant companion, a loyal friend who will dedicate their life to keeping her safe. Thank you for reading this long message and for your donation big or small to this cause. This means so much to my family and I cannot thank you enough. Sincerely, Jarrod & Ashley Bockmon on behalf of Maddie Bockmon
