I am a retired Navy submariner and my name is Bill Linné. I served aboard the USS M.G. Vallejo for six years. After more than ten years of work, I and a group of others were successful in getting a beautiful memorial built that is a tribute to all the men who sailed her and all the Mare Island Naval Shipyard folks that built her in the sixties. The memorial was completed and dedicated in November 2019. Now it requires routine maintenance. The required work mostly involves rust abatement and painting. Our volunteers are aging out of the capabilities to do these things, so we must award contracts periodically. That's where your donations enter the picture. NONE of the donated money will go to volunteers, only to materials and verifiable contract work. There is a separate bank account for these funds.
