Hi, I'm Nathan and I'm helping start this LFEBridge for my friends Ja'Miah and Lyndsey Burnett and family (former Texans and now residents of small-town Piedmont, Oklahoma). The Burnett family’s lives were shaken a week before their family vacation. Lyndsey is a wife of 15 years to Ja’Miah and an incredible full-time mom of two kids, Cas age 14 and Kiah age 11. Lyndsey, like any great mom, is caught up in her family’s life. Between football practice, booster club, girl scouts, and church event she is a busy mom. She is the champion of the Burnett family. She delights in serving her family in any capacity she can. Cas, although extremely large for his age is a soft-hearted kid who, loves people. He has passion for football, fishing, working out and a good cheeseburger. Kiah with her blue eyes and freckles can melt your heart, but at the core she is sassy, incredibly witty, and innovative. Kiah loves reading and is a frequent visitor of the local library. She also enjoys baking and loves to welcome every new neighbor into their growing housing development with fresh baked banana bread. She loves art projects and most of all loves spending time with all her friends doing silly girl stuff. Ja’Miah is an ambitious, hardworking dad dedicated to giving his family the best he can provide. Ja’Miah is a natural born salesman who never met a stranger. At the time of this particular incident he was gainfully employed by a small Oklahoma-owned auto group as a finance manager and has been in the car business for over 20 years. Prior to that he spent many years in the entertainment industry doing artist management, promotion, and even was the host of a morning show for a 100,000-watt top 40 pop station for many years. Being a great husband and a great dad are top priority to him. Ja’Miah prides himself for being strong and being able to always figure it out, but nothing could have prepared him for what happened at 4:37 am on July 9th, 2024. Here is how he describes it: On Sunday July the 9th our lives were shaken. My 41-year-old wife, and mother of two amazing kids had a stroke. I was woken up at 4:37 am to my phone going off to a severe weather alert. I noticed [Lyndsey] wasn’t in bed, so I went looking for her and found her in the floor. In a short conversation she seemed confused, so I turn on the light and saw her face drooping. I feared she had a stroke, so I immediately called 911. Emergency responders responded in a matter of minutes and rushed Lyndsey to Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. A CT scan revealed she had a major stroke due to a large blood clot lodged in the right front part of the brain. Her whole left side was paralyzed. Lyndsey was rushed to surgery and the blood clot was removed successfully. Immediately after surgery her cognitive skills were very good. It gave us all hope because she was talking and comprehending, and even joking. They placed her in ICU to monitor her constantly due to risk of swelling. With a lot of prayer everything looked stable until Wednesday July 12th. A CT scan revealed that her brain was swelling, and she was declining. Her condition was dangerous and even terminal. Her doctor was recommending immediate surgery. I felt like I was living my worst nightmare as we I had to approve a procedure called a depressive hemicraniectomy which was explain to me as a surgical procedure where a large piece of the skull is removed, and the dura is opened. This helps relieve the pressure on the brain and mitigates further damage due to excessive swelling. It’s about the size of hand right above her right ear. After speaking with her dad that I was making the right choice I gave them medical consent. They immediately rushed her to surgery, bumping many others who were already scheduled. The surgery was completed without any complications. She was intubated for the surgery, and it was left in to mitigate any risk of breathing until the swelling is no longer a major risk. On Wednesday July 19th a week after her surgery her doctors scheduled Lyndsey for what they call a Treg and Peg. She developed a contusion on her tongue that had become infected. The constant rubbing from the tube was making things worse. The tracheostomy (TREG) would replace the tube she had for breathing and the percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) would replace her current feeding tube. This will free up her face, help with the infection on her tongue, and allow me to let my 11-year-old daughter Kiah to see her momma. I felt the cords and breathing devices were to much for her to handle. Currently Lyndsey is still in ICU under the care of an amazing medical team who are monitoring her constantly. We are seeing cognitive improvements daily. She is moving her left leg occasionally and occasionally opening her eyes. She can still communicate via commands such as indicating she’s 41 with her fingers and give thumbs up when asked a question. They are still absolutely bumfuzzled as to why/how/where the blood clot originated. They have ruled out genetics, her echocardiogram showed her heart to be perfectly fine, and they tested her for a blood coagulating disease, and it was also negative. We are seeking answers. Due to the massive trauma to her brain Lynsey will remain in ICU for an extended period of time until the swelling is gone then she will receive several months of inpatient therapy. This campaign is to help our family with the expense associated with this tragic event and the rehabilitation process. We’ve received an incredible outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and our incredible church family. Many people have asked what they can do and how they can support our family, so we have created a LFEBridge page to support the Burnett family. We believe WHOLE HEARTLY that God is going to restore Lyndsey. Currently there are thousands of people praying for Lyndsey and for he to be completely healed. Until then continue to pray. We need your prayers. We Believe prayer works. #Lyndseyishealed God is healing her daily and Lyndsey is quickly improving. Due to Ja’Miah’s constant care of his wife, he is in danger of losing his job. Stay up to date on Facebook: LYNDSEY IS HEALED. Update from Ja'miah: Our lives really did change July 9th, 2024. As hard as the long hospitalization was, nothing could have prepared me for the day she came home. Lyndsey was incapacitated due to her stroke and completely paralyzed on her left side. The last 10 months have been a healing journey filled with many challenges and battles. Due to consistent therapy and close oversight by her doctors, therapist, and specialist we’ve learned the key to her healing is therapy. We would not have been able to get this far if it wasn’t the prayers and support of our family, our church, our precious friends, and many of you reading this who may only know us as an acquaintance but feel drawn to help in any way you can. This update comes with the need for your help once again. On April 15th, 2024 Lyndsey underwent major surgery to repair her skull at Integris Baptist in OKC. On July 12, 2024 Lyndsey required cranioplasty surgery to save her life as her brain swelling was becoming fatal. She has had no skull on half of her head and for the last ten months she has had to wear a helmet to protect her head. The good news is she no longer must wear the helmet. The cranioplasty surgery went well, and Lyndsey was transferred to Jim Thorpe Inpatient Rehabilitation at Integris Baptist where she will be for an extended period due to her need for intense daily therapy. Following her release, I will be attempting to return to work and will be seeking employment opportunities that allow me to work from home. We now are on the journey to somehow regaining our life and a sense of stability for our kids. I’m asking once again if you can help our family. Regardless, if you're able to give a monetary donation, pray for our family, or just share this LFEBridge link. Please know I appreciate any action that helps my family on our journey to reclaiming our lives
