In March 2015 Amanda and Tim Lance received some very exciting news. They were expecting a baby! After hearing their bundle of joy’s heartbeat they couldn’t wait to share their excitement with family and friends. On July 13th their 9 month pregnancy journey took a bit of a turn. While at an appointment to see if baby Lance would be a boy or a girl, the baby’s heart began to cause some concern and Amanda and Tim were sent to Barnes Jewish in St. Louis to see a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist. On August 5th after meeting with the doctor at Barnes Amanda and Tim were informed that their baby has a syndrome called Heterotaxy. Heterotaxy is a rare syndrome in which organs do not form on the proper side of a baby’s body and typically involve pretty complicated congenital heart defects. Their journey through pregnancy has now changed from your occasional doctor appointments, scans, etc. to a flurry of doctor appointments and scans to make sure baby BrieAnn Lance is thriving inside of mommy. On Saturday, October 24th their story takes another turn. Tim was in a serious four wheeler accident. He was airlifted to SLU Hospital in St. Louis where they were informed that he had a cervical vertebrae injury. His C5, C6, and C7 vertebrae had been shifted putting pressure on his spinal cord and his T1 was broken. Tim underwent surgery where doctors placed 1 plate and about 8 screws in his neck. Although Tim is making great progress, there is still a battle ahead. Tim is currently still at SLU hospital and will be transferred in time to a rehab facility where he will undergo intense physically therapy. As Amanda and Tim continue through this journey, medical bills will begin to present themselves. In order to help offset some of the financial stress of these medical bills a LFEBridge account has been set up for Amanda and Tim. Help us “Love” on the Lances by making a donation of any size. Continue to lift the Lance family up in prayer as they have a long road ahead of them but with God all things are possible! A Caring Bridge account has been created to keep everyone updated on Tim’s journey through rehab and Little Miss BrieAnn’s fight!
