As many of you know, a little over two years ago I went into cardiac arrest that resulted in an anoxic brain injury which left me disabled. Although I have been aggressive and met the issues head on and actively participated in rehab, my illness is progressive, and I am not recovering as much nor as quickly as I had hoped. I have “Parkinsonisms” that have resulted in rigid posture, difficulty moving around, speaking and, more frequently, swallowing. The neurological damage I have extends throughout my body resulting in pain and numbness. Every day I have dizziness and a sloshy (concussed) feeling in my head that makes me unsteady and a risk for falling. I will continue to search for alternative therapies, medicines, whatever may maintain and hopefully improve my health, but this brain injury cannot be reversed. The more likely path is continued decline. My wife has carried both the health advocate and the financial burdens of this illness to this point. We have fought through so many waves of issues with my health over the last two years. It has had an impact beyond imagination on her health as well as our financial situation. So, I finally must reach out and ask for help. As we seek solutions to my situation there are many appointments that are not covered by insurance and are out of pocket. We are also in need of help getting me to my appointments and with daily care so she can continue to work. I keep writing my story in hopes that it will be published and help others prevent heart attacks and work to recover. It gives me something positive to focus on as well as providing friends and family with an insight to my experiences. While I can’t think of a goal. I respectfully ask for you to donate and it will be handled by a close fiduciary.
