On July 7th, 2024 my mom, Lori Sanders, was diagnosed with stage 3 small cell carcinoma. Lung cancer. The kind of cancer that Google leads you to goodbye. The doctors tell us to stay off Google. Mom started chemo on July 17th and will begin radiation on her next cycle of chemo, on August 7th. Thankfully, after all the tests and scans, the cancer is localized. Currently residing in her lungs and a couple of lymph nodes in her throat. The largest tumor is 7cm and is on her trachea. This creates an irritating feeling for Mom like something is always stuck in her throat. Making things hard to swallow and easy to choke on. Our goal is to take this fight day by day and shrink the mass so that she can breathe easier and live “normally.” As expected, she’s tired, irritable, and upset. I’d say we all are, but any care that will give us more time with Mom is a blessing. I’ve created this LFEBridge in hopes to help relieve some of the burdens of expenses that come with this fight. She’s attempting to work through this but has missed many hours already due to appointments and the side effects of the treatments. Anyone who knows my mom- whether it’s from her kids, Dunkin’, Cashland, Dollar General, or Home Depot, knows she’s one you can count on to show up and work hard. I know it’s been very difficult for her to miss work not just because of lost hours, but also from guilt of not being able to do her duties and help others. I’m hoping to show her that she’s backed on this fight. That the community that she’s worked for is going to be there for her too. Any amount donated is helpful and appreciated. I know my parents are too prideful to ask for this kind of help, which is why I have taken the initiative to find resources to lessen her load. Please feel free to share this with our community. I know there are so many people here that she has brought joy to. More than she even knows I’m sure. I also welcome any questions, suggestions, and resources. This is an unfamiliar challenge for me and my family. Your experience may help us. Thank you, The Sanders Family
