Hi, I am writing this on behalf of my family and especially my husband Tim Dowling. We have lived in Cheboygan most our lives and are raising our kids here. Tim runs a small local business and spends extra time outdoors with his family. Last November, Tim ended up in the hospital for several days after a visit to the ER. after lots of testing they ordered an exploratory surgery to see what was going on and that's when they discovered he was in liver failure. Fast forward through the next crazy few months of dr visits we landed in Ann Arbor at U of M seeing a hepatoligist. After many tests and a couple apts she agreed it was time for referral to the transplant dept. In his blood work they found out he has alpha one antitrypsin deficiency which is hereditary and attacks your liver. After our last appt, we received the call two days later that the board met and agreed he needs to be listed. We have two minor test to knock out first before it's "offical" one is an ekg and one is a chest x-ray. Since his official diagnosis back in January he has been put on dozens of new medications all to help combat the symptoms. It's not been a fun ride but I'm thankful we are finally here. He has definitely been suffering with his head held high. We have been advised that we will need to live in the Ann Arbor area for no less than a month after transplant, lots of back and forth apts, a plethora of medical bills, and loss of business when he has to be closed. I just want to say Tim doesn't want sympathy and doesn't want to feel like a burden! We ask you show support by praying for us!! Sharing this post! Making a donation! Volunteering at his fundraiser or lastly and definitely upmost importance if you are A+ blood, between 21-55 years old, BMI under 35, no major health issues, and willing to donate half your liver, I will be posting a link shortly where you can register to see if you're a match! This guy would give the shirt off his back! He has everything to live for including a darling six old daughter that Is the love of his life.
