On June 11, 2024, just after Leticia turned 33, she suffered a life-changing event that has left her unable to work for the past 5 weeks and counting. Leticia has always been an outgoing, and empathetic soul who gives positive energy to everyone she encounters. As an Esthetician and manager at SugarBare Savannah, she cares deeply for all her customers and the business, which has made it hard for her to be away from work and a normal life. At the young age of 33, doctors found that she has suffered a heart attack due to a genetic condition that caused multiple small arteries to clog, and there is no ability for doctors to correct the problem due to the size of these arteries at this time. Additionally, it was found that there was fluid surrounding her heart muscle, causing her heart to be inflamed, and putting further pressure on her body. As a self-employed employee, she has no medical leave available, or unemployment, which means no income for daily bills and rent. She has been without pay for 5 weeks, and counting. Not only that, she has been extremely stressed that she is letting both her customers, and the business down. She wants nothing more to return to work, but has to allow her body time to heal. Although Leticia has been on treatment and hopes to evidentially return to normal life, the medical bills she has incurred with two hospital visits, multiple doctor visits, and tests, have caused a major financial burden. The medical bills and normal life expenses have amounted to approximately $16,000.00 after insurance, and this unsurmountable amount will be impossible for her to cover herself while being unable to work. Leticia is in need of financial help to deal with these unexpected expenses. Because it will take time for her to return to work, her debts are anticipated to continue soaring. This is difficult, as she has always been financially independent.
