Hello, on behalf of our sister Nora Perez, our nephews Mito, Izzy, and Augie, and of course our brother-in-law, Jaime, we are graciously asking for the support of our family, friends, and community. On August 29, 2024, Jaime started the fight of his life against this horrible disease. After his diagnosis of Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer, he immediately started treatment at M.D. Anderson in Houston. He endured radiation and chemotherapy treatments. January 2024 He completed the radiation and chemo treatments, but they were not given the news they hoped for. As the family prepared for the next step in the fight, all Coach Perez wanted was to finish the season with his beloved Sabercat baseball team. April of 2024 All our prayers were answered. Mito, the eldest sibling, plays baseball for Tarleton State University. The Texans were in town for a three-game series against UTRGV. In the last game of the series, Mito hit a three-run home run with Jaime, Nora, Izzy, and Augie in the stand. It was an emotional experience for the family because as he rounded third base, he signed the "I Love You" gesture toward them. The next morning, Jaime and Nora traveled to Houston for pre-operation testing in preparation for his scheduled surgery. A few days later, after CT scans and MRIs were complete, the Drs came back and said there were no signs of cancer. This was the best news they had received in months. Jaimes's quote to The Monitor on April 8th was, "The doctor's exact words were, "I can't explain it, but there's nothing there. I'm a walking testimony of his grace and his mercy - I'm cancer-free." The doctor did say that at his 3-month follow-up if there were any signs of cancer returning, they would have to proceed with the life-altering surgery. Our family was thankful, celebrated and rejoiced in God's mercy because, in these short three months, Jaime and Nora were able to travel to San Antonio and Stephenville to watch Mito and his Texans play, attend Augie's baseball games here at home, as well as attend Izzy's high school graduation from Vela where he also ended up playing baseball for his dad. Coach Perez was able to finish the season with his Sabercats who went three rounds deep. July 2024 The three-month follow-up was last week, and well, it did NOT go as our family hoped. Jaime's cancer returned. Through all of this, the family has not given up. In my sister's words, " We understand that our plans are NOT God's plans, and we continue to walk by faith. He is in control, and we give it ALL to HIM!" Jaime and Nora are such a blessing to anyone that knows them. They are humble, hard-working educators who would not ask anything from anyone, but instead would give their last penny to someone in need. As their family, we see the financial burden they are dealing with and are asking for your help for them. Any amount you're willing to contribute is greatly appreciated. If you aren't able to contribute monetarily at this time, we ask for a PRAYER AND A SHARE (please share this with your family and friends) Thanks again for your generosity and support! With Gratitude, On behalf of the Perez Family
