Hey everyone, this is Lori's sister, Teresa. I'm starting this LFEBridge on behalf of my sister. As most of you know, Lori has been battling some health issues since May of 2024. It all started with a trip to the ER and then multiple visits to her provider and specialists in LaCrosse. The diagnosis was not good. They found fluid in the lining of her lung. This turned into pleurisy. She was also having pain in her side. After having a cat scan and pet scan they found a nodule in her lung. Also, a mass on her kidney that is suspected to be cancerous, which needs to be removed. She also has a nodule on her thyroid. They tried to remove fluid from the lung but got very little because she also had loculation in her lung. With all of this going on, she has to have multiple surgeries. First, she is going to have surgery on her lung to get that fluid out. This has to be done before they can start working on removing her kidney. The surgery on her lung is a 3-hour procedure with a 5-day hospital stay. They may even have to remove ribs to get to her lungs which will result in a very painful recovery. Her recovery time will be 4-6 weeks, which will affect her ability to work. Once she is fully recovered, Lori will be having her second surgery, removing her kidney. As of right now, we do not know the recovery process for this surgery because we are focused on getting her lung taken care of. But we obviously know that it will continue to affect her ability to work. With all this being said, we are reaching out to all of Lori's friends and family for support in this journey.
