Dear Family and Friends, My name is Jim Edwards and I am organizing this LFEBridge campaign in support my brother’s family: Steve, Jennifer and Nick Edwards who live in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. They are in great need of prayers, love and any support you can provide. My brother’s wife, Jennifer Edwards, had a life-changing medical emergency on 14 July 2024, that she is still hospitalized for and continues to battle today. Early that Friday morning, Jennifer had a severe headache and was having a hard time moving her body. As they were preparing to go to the emergency room, Jennifer had a seizure and went unresponsive. Steve called 911 and began life-saving procedures until the ambulance arrived. Paramedics took over and transported Jennifer to the Poplar Bluff Hospital. A CT scan showed a bleed on the brain and Jennifer was immediately put on a breathing machine and rushed to Saint Louis University Hospital via helicopter. As the medical staff at SLU worked around the clock, Jennifer remained on life support and was in critical condition for the next three days. After many tests and procedures, Jennifer was diagnosed with having a brain aneurysm (brain bleed) that also triggered her to have a stroke. Through the grace of God, Jennifer, who is only 49-years-old, continues to battle and has been taken off the breathing machine and feeding tube. She has a very long battle ahead of her, but she has been relocated to Lake Saint Louis Hospital’s Stroke Rehabilitation Facility where she is being closely monitored and provided high intense in-patient rehabilitation services. The rehabilitation facility is four hours from where they live, but Jennifer needs a lot of treatment and there are still many unknowns. The doctors say it is going to be a long road of recovery but they are aggressively working on her occupational and psychological therapy, mobility, sight and speech. It can take up to a year to determine what her limitations may or may not be, but the family’s trust and faith in God will get them through this process. Our family is so thankful for all the generosity, love, prayers and support that has been extended to Jennifer, Steve and Nick these past couple weeks. Those who truly know Steve and Jennifer – you know they are all about taking care of people, teaching, making their community great and they are All-In! They have both dedicated their lives to educating today’s youth. They live a humble life and if you really know them, you know they aren’t the kind of people to ask anyone for anything. In fact, Steve wasn’t fully on-board with me creating this campaign – but I know they need the help. During these heartbreaking and difficult times, I kindly request your generous financial donations to help them cope with and overcome several financial medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, travel requirements, meals, lodging costs and other necessary expenditures. As teachers, they live on a fixed income that is going to be greatly reduced during this time of healing. I ask you to please keep Jennifer and the entire Edwards family in your thoughts and prayers. Your love, support, prayers and generosity are greatly appreciated and each and every one of you are making a huge difference in the Jennifer’s battle to heal and recover. I thank you for your time, consideration, and support. God is great!! #PrayForJennifer
