Gio Olamendi is an amazing 14-year-old boy! Gio loves all sports and plays football, soccer, and basketball. On Wed night (7/19), 3 days after his 14th birthday he was at the trampoline park and completely shattered his knee, which required emergency surgery and a 6-day hospital stay. Gio was discharged from the hospital with absolutely no help, no physical therapy, a home nurse or proper assistance or guidance for his mom. Gio is almost 6 feet tall and approximately 245 pounds. At home, it's him, his mama and Valentino his 12-year-old brother. They live in an apartment complex in Aliso Viejo, with 45 stairs to get there, 3rd floor and no elevator, and because of this, his mom has been forced to rent a bedroom on the first floor. In addition to all of this, she has had to find care for her younger son which has been a struggle as well. Raquel(mom) has been left to care for Gio physically which is proving to be much more than she can do alone. Gio is not able to stand on his own and requires help to get to and from the bathroom. If you know his mom, Raquel, she is the first person to offer help to anyone in need, she is a selfless human who has been the sole supporter of her two children for over 13 years. Raquel works as a life coach in addition to her full-time employment, and because of her own recovery, she has made it her commitment to help/coach others to stay sober as well. This Amazing woman serves the role of mom and dad in her household, and not only her but her family has been pillars in the community for over 59 years. Raquel and the entire Olamendi family have been providing amazing food, coaching soccer, and providing jobs in South Orange County. Like many others, covid devastated their business and they continue to recover today. Raquel, Gio and Valentino need our help. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. Currently, she is looking at physical therapy expenses and in-home care(up to $300 a day) in addition to looking at at least 3 months of rent for the first-floor accommodations. This Amazing family could use all the help they can get, and even if you are unable to contribute, please send lots of prayers and help us share share share. Gio has always been such a support to his momma and it breaks my heart to see him in fear of what his future will now look like. If this injury is cared for properly, he will be able to resume sports and get back to the childhood he so deserves. Thanks in advance for anything you can do.
