We all know Steve Beguhn…funny, handsome, selfless, just a true salt-of-the-earth type of guy. Those who know Steve know that he’s one that would never really ask for help. Well on 7/22, at the annual Whitefish Bay Little League Baseball Fundraiser, Play Ball, Steve was performing and on the set break for the live auction, the wind got ahold of his guitar and blew it off stage and onto the pavement. In true Steve fashion, he didn’t show any anger or hostility. He simply picked up the guitar, made sure it still worked and continued play for another hour or so. The guitar still plays, but it’s not the same. It’s pretty obvious that music and performing are a passion of Steve’s (ie. karaoke shed in his backyard) and that guitar is part of what makes him who he is. It’s part of what allows him to give back to our community in so many ways. I think it’s only right that we come together as a community and help get him a new one. Steve does it the right way, for the right reasons and now it’s our turn to do it for the right reasons. As you’d expect, Steve wasn’t really on board with this idea. He agreed that as long as any excess funds, after the cost replacing the guitar, were given back to the little league, he’d be ok with it. Didn’t prefer it by any means, but would be ok with it. I think Steve’s a pretty good example of who we are as a community and the type of person we can all only hope our children grow up to be. Let’s show him as a community that we not only appreciate him and his passions, but sincerely appreciate all time, energy and efforts he puts in to help make Whitefish Bay what it is!
