On August 18th when Monte didn’t get up for breakfast I thought maybe he had caught a summer bug and needed to sleep it off. He slept the entire day and by the next day I was concerned and took him to the emergency room . A ct scan revealed the vp shunt he had placed as an infant wasn’t working and he had brain swelling. He was rushed to Oakland for emergency surgery to have the shunt replaced. Unfortunately the surgery wasn’t successful. The new shunt  got clogged by a blood clot within the hour and the surgeons had to go right back in and take it out. After allowing his brain to rest a few days another surgery was done to place the shunt again, this time on the opposite side of his brain. After several weeks of lying in a hospital bed and 3 brain surgeries, Monte’s functional living skills were severely impacted. He lost language, fine and gross motor skills. He wasn’t even able to sit up on his own.  Our health insurance provided short term rehab to get him walking with a walker, but so much more is needed. The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to provide financial assistance for a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and additional physical therapy to get him back walking independently.Monte is a handsome young man that is adored by all that know him. He loves movies, music and spending time with his family. Please help us get him back to the kid we all know and love. Donations can also be sent to: Shay GreenwoodPO BOX 5638Vacaville, Ca 95696
