This is probably one of the most difficult things I have ever had to write. As most of you know Len was just recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. What very few people know is this is his second bout with cancer, he was cured and put into remission 4 yrs ago after a tumor was found and removed from his body. At that time he refused any outside financial help and it took him a long time to pay off all the bills and recover both mentally and financially. He is a fighter in every sense of the word but at the same time I have witnessed more acts of kindness that he has done for others then even I can remember. Anyone who has ever called upon him has been answered with a "how can I help". He has organized charity events with friends for no other reason then watching devastation on TV and telling me that he couldn't just watch without taking action. He has done numerous toy drives around Christmas because he tells me "no kid should ever go without a gift on Christmas". He felt so bad last year for not doing a toy drive that he sent $300 of his own money to people friends told him may need assistance. He has always been fast to give and slow to receive. He has told me that this wasn't an option as he did not want to ask people to part with their hard earned money just because he is having a rough time regardless of how much he has given to others. His pride makes him who he is but can also be frustrating for everyone who have asked if they can help.Things turned around today when he received a phone call from the hospital telling him his out of pocket expense would be another $2,000 after he has already paid close to $4000 out of pocket. They also advised that after December he will be responsible for more since its a new year and his deductible starts all over again. He came over tonight to help Ethan with a school project and I could see the stress and disappointment in his face. He rarely shows strong emotion but I could swear his eyes were filling up as he was telling me about the conversation he had with hospital. That is when I told him I heard enough and we HAD to allow others to help. He finally agreed but on one term. He wants to keep a journal with all donations written down and pay each and every penny back. I don't know how long that will take but it was the only way I was able to get him to agree to this. All the money will be used for medical expenses as well as covering lost wages/living expenses for his time off from work during treatment. He is determined to keep a full time position but even he cannot predict how the chemo will affect him. If you have the means to do so please help. Thank you all who have reached out and kept him positive during this time. #FightforLenny Love Doris and Ethan
