Hello everyone! Leeandra Tafoya and family are greatly in need of your help. Leeandra is a beautiful, talented and smart little girl. For the past year or so Leeandra has not been feeling too well. Leeandra in a short amount of time dropped some weight, started having consistent stomach issues and most recently she began having pretty bad migraines and nausea. Leeandra was given many tests as well as ultra sounds to try to find what could be causing all of her medical issues. Every test that was conducted had a negative finding which did not provide the doctors information on what could be causing Leeandra to be so ill. Rosina Cohen, Leeandra’s mother, decided to take Leeandra to a different doctor in order to get a second opinion and stressed to the doctor that Leeandra was extremely ill and more tests were needing to be conducted to determine what was causing her illness. Leeandra’s pediatrician ordered and MRI. On October 17th, 2015, Leeandra was taken for her scheduled MRI. A few hours after her MRI, Rosina received a phone call no mother ever wants to receive. Leeandra was diagnosed with a brain tumor estimated to be about the size of a walnut. The tumor required emergency surgery and Leeandra was to return to the hospital where a team of doctors were a waiting her arrival. Leeandra was flown out to Denver that very same day to have an emergency surgery in an attempt to remove the tumor from her brain.Leeandra’s surgery was a success, however beautiful Leeandra has a long road of recovery ahead of her. The tests conducted on the tumor removed from Leeandra’s brain tested positive to be cancerous. The doctors have informed Rosina that Leeandra will be needing a spinal tap to determine if the cancer had spread outside of the tumor and also follow up treatment from her surgery. Beginning November 18, 2015, Leeandra will undergo six plus weeks of aggressive radiation in Colorado to fight any further attacks of the cancer. Then she will follow up with chemotherapy when she returns home. This situation has been overwhelming and we are asking for assistance for Leeandra and her family. The financial strain has already began. Rosina has not left Leeandra's side since the nightmare began and as a result, has not been able to earn any money for her family. Rosina's husband has had to return home to work and care for Leeandra’s six siblings.This account has been set up to raise money to assist Leeandra’s family with their difficult financial burden of medical expenses and lack of income that has resulted from this awful experience which has taken an emotional and financial toll on Leeandra’s family.Please pray for Leeandra and her family.
