With a heart as big as her beautiful smile, Lauren Wiatrek touches so many lives with love and enthusiasm for God. As a mother of two beautiful girls (Halen and Henley), wife to a generous husband (Evan), and friend to her community, Lauren joyfully exemplifies life as a Godly woman. Heavy hearts surround them as Lauren begins chemotherapy to treat breast cancer. The breast cancer that rocked their family six years ago, metastasized to her lungs 2 years ago, and now continues to wreak havoc on Lauren's body. When Lauren was originally diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer in May 2024, the oncologists told her that prolonging life, not beating cancer, was and remains the goal. For the past 2 years and per her doctor's recommendation, the Wiatreks have made memories with their girls, spent time with loved ones, and cherished her remaining time. The lung tumor the doctors have been watching have gotten larger, her tumor markers are extremely elevated and it appears a bunch of little tumors have grown as well. The oncologist is shifting now to a new cancer protocol. This one is much more aggressive. Lauren has stopped her current meds, had a procedure to put in a port and will begin a new chemo IV drug called Enhertu. This drug is insanely expensive {$29,000 per treatment} and comes with some hefty side effects. We always knew that the time could come where Lauren's treatment plan would adjust to something more aggressive and that time is NOW. While her family still feels the financial impact from Lauren's first diagnosis and the past 2 year's treatments and surgeries, starting tomorrow, Lauren will begin the new treatment to further slow the growth of her cancer. Please consider generously supporting Lauren's family to help cover the extensive chemo costs and her upcoming comprehensive cancer treatments. She's taken her doctor's advice and her family's wishes to heart, and they're plotting out a care path and ready to start soon, but need help with the cost.
