On Friday, July 28th in our D league Sliders softball playoff game, Larry Callaway slid into third base and suffered a terrible compound fracture/dislocation of his tibia and a fracture of his fibula. The game was halted and the paramedics/fire department showed up. Larry’s his leg was put in an air cast and he was stretchered off to John Muir. The team was stunned and horrified; all the while Larry was calm and even cracked some jokes. Classic Larry, not only showed his humor but his strength is off the charts. Larry had his first surgery shortly after the game and will have another one in about a week. We know that Larry is going to take on the lengthy recovery with the same strength he showed on the field on Friday night. Larry is an amazing teammate, friend, and dad. The Sliders want to do everything we can to assist in his recovery. While we can’t put the work in, we wanted to help the massive medical bills that an injury of this caliber creates; ambulance ride, a hospital stay, two surgeries and hours physical therapy. Larry does so much for the community between coaching multiple sports and being a great influence on anyone that knows him. https://www.northgatelivingca.com/meet-the-callaways/ Anything you can do to help Larry with the exorbitant costs would be much appreciated. Get better LC - we are going to need you back on the Sliders and the kids need you back as their coach on the court!
