My 12 year old niece Kyah Feyereisen was diagnosed with an inoperable rare type of brain tumor called an astrocytoma in 2010. I had the opportunity to help her through some of her hospital stays since her treatment usually occured where I lived in the Twin Cities. She is the bravest person I know. She has endured 3 rounds of chemo-therapy and many brain surgeries and yet through the years she has continued to stay positive. She has grown into a beautiful, smart, girl is is always caring for others. This last trip to Minnesota did not yield good news. Her tumor is growing at a faster rate than ever and the next plan for treatment is proton radiation. We are unsure of where this type of treatement will take place, hopefully Mayo in Rochester takes her case. We do know that it will for sure involve being away from her family for weeks at a time. The type of radiation is a newer less common type of radiation and we are unsure of the costs that are going to be incured by her family. I will update this request as I learn more. I felt the need to start raising money now. I will be very thankful for donations as it will help her family through this difficult time.
