It is with a heavy heart that I must announce my Ashtanga teacher Kushal Ram N in Mysore, India is currently in a coma. On the 3rd of July, 2024, Kushal was attacked in his shala in Laksmipuram and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the JSS Hospital in Mysuru where he is currently in critical condition on life support. The family of Kushal is now looking to raise funds to cover his hospital expenses. So far, they have already spent 5 lakh Indian rupees which is equal to $6050 USD, and are looking to raise 15k lakh more, totaling $24,208 (20k lakh). He has already had brain surgery to remove a blood clot. This is a highly sensitive matter so I cannot make public the full details of what happened. Here are photos of Kushal below: For those who knew Kushal as a friend and teacher, he was often known for his charming ability to captivate you with his stories of yoga philosophy and Hindu mythology as well as his unique method of teaching the Ashtanga yoga system. I pray from the bottom of my heart that Kushal wakes up and recovers from his injuries, but it will not be an easy path for him and require intensive therapy.
