Hi my name is Olivia Spaulding and I put together this go fund me on behalf of Shannon and Richard kurze in hopes to help them financially during this crazy uncertain time. On June 15th the rug was pulled out from underneath their family and was the beginning of a journey they never thought they would be on. Parker is like any other 16 year old boy. He loves video games, shooting hoops and tossing the pigskin with his brother, tossing the ball for our dog. He went to school and hung out with his friends. He was fine, until around mothers day weekend when he twisted and heard a pop in his back. He had no pain and went about his day playing football with Payton. June 12th everything changed. We noticed the way Parker was walking was different. He was holding his core differently, his gait was getting shorter and he started catching his feet while walking. Out from the closet came Bumpa’s walker and he would use it to get around.at first it was just walking but then it got to the point he couldn't lay flat or sit comfortably. Car rides to doctors were almost unbearable for him. That week alone we were seen at 5 different doctors/hospitals. We found ourselves in the Emergency Room at Boston Children’s hospital waiting for Parker to get an MRI. He needed the MRI done under sedation because of the pain he was in he could not lay flat. Within the hour after the MRI, we were told he had a mass at the base of his spine pressing on all the nerves branching off. One of the neurosurgery doctors explained what looks like a benign mass will need to be removed. We get admitted to Children’s awaiting the tumor removal surgery and then we would be on our merry way home. Not so much as Parker was having issues with his bladder control so he went in for the surgery. We spent 13 days in Children’s healing and gaining the strength for him to come home. The tumor was sent out for more testing and we would get the results as soon as they got them. So we waited, the waiting just about took us all out as what is the next step if there were more to happen. July 10th we went to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Jimmy Fund Clinic to be told the tumor was Ewing’s Sarcoma and Parker would be starting chemo treatments in the coming weeks and projecting to last 7-11 months. Many tears were shed in that office as we tried to wrap the news around in our heads. Shannon had to get done working inorder to be Parker's full time caregiver leaving Richard to work. Richard has used up all his PTO from his job during the first hospital stay so for future treatments and hospital stays Shannon is solo in the care for Parker and all his needs. The money from this fundraiser will be used for bills that keep on coming in, meals and possibly housing for Shannon and Parker during his 5 day treatments. Any little bit will help ❤️
