My name is Ashlyn and I have known the Carters since I was a little girl, and recently have been working for them for a little over a year now. Clay and Kristie Carter are two of the most loving, compassionate and giving people I have ever met. Their love for God and others is shown through them daily. When the office staff and I heard the news Kristie recently received--a diagnosis of choroidal melanoma--we were devastated, to say the least. Kristie has dedicated her life to helping others and even through all the heartache and devastation that they have endured this past year, she has never once made it about herself (even now). So, we hope to give back a little piece of the joy she brings to everyone and together help her fight cancer. A little bit about this type of cancer--Ocular melanoma (choroidal type) is a rare intraocular form of cancer. It's an aggressive type of cancer that can potentially spread throughout the body, most often the liver. Treatments vary upon the size of the tumor itself. She has found out that hers is the size of a dime (almost as big as her eye) and that it is at the cut-off of a medium size tumor. The treatment choices she was given were to remove the eyeball completely or try brachytherapy. The brachytherapy is where they take a piece of gold in the shape of a bottlecap with radioactive seeds inside it and attach it to the outside of the eye. Kristie has chosen to take this route in hopes of saving her eye and she is scheduled to have this surgery on Aug. 10, 2024. This will stay in her eye for 7 days and then she will be going back in for surgery to remove it and hopefully, it has shrunk and then eventually die off. If the tumor continues to grow they will then remove the eye and we will pray it has not metastasized. She has simply just asked for prayers, but I felt as if I needed to help out in other ways. So I am helping raise money to take the burden of medical expenses that they will be paying out of pocket off the table. Her hopeful recovery journey will be a long and hard one but we know that God has his hand in all of this. While God challenges us with terrible news, we are hopeful that God will provide and get her and her family through this fight. Any contribution & prayers are welcomed! With Love & Prayers Ashlyn and the Staff at Carter Chiropractic and Laser Pain Solutions.
