On July 1st, Kristen went the the emergency department (where she works), to check on a spider bite that she thought was causing some neurotoxicity. Throughout the day the cellulitis from the bite progressed and she was having trouble moving her neck. The symptoms of the neurotoxicity mimicked that of meningitis and the pain began to render her immobile from the neck up. When she got to the ER she was blessed to be treated by a team of people she trusts, her team. After a CT and MRI, Kristen received news that she has a primary brain tumor, an incidental finding to the reason she even went to the hospital. She was admitted to the hospital and is awaiting news on when her surgery will take place. This is shocking and life changing news to her, her husband Josh, and her family, compounded by a factor that many Americans face. She and her family are uninsured. Kristen made the decision to reduce her employment from full time a few years ago in order to raise her children, Isaac and Evelyn. Kristen works part time while homeschooling her young children. It is heartbreaking to think of such an amazing woman who has spent her career helping others heal, is now experiencing her own health concerns. Any contributions made will go to the medical expenses Kristen will incur throughout the removal of the tumor. Our family is deeply grateful for your help and support.
