Let me introduce myself, I am Nikki Hauck, I am the sister of Jessica Kraft and sister-in-law of Owen Kelly. I am sending this letter in hopes of supporting them in this next phase of life. What is this next phase, you ask, Jess & Owen will be adopting internationally this year. Jess & Owen love the life they have created together with their marriage and two gorgeous children but knew for a long time that they had more love to give and therefore many years ago started the process of international adoption, focusing on Africa, an area of this world that has held a special place in Jess’ heart since her years spent there in the Peace Corps and then a joint love shared that started with their summit of Kiliminjaro in 2013. Earlier in 2024, they were finally given the exciting news that a little girl will be joining their family. (The exact timeline is difficult to say due to paperwork, governments, etc.) but as this event is getting closer I wanted to reach out to people who love this amazing family. Here is why I am reaching out, it is simple, can you help? There are two paths that I am thinking could be of use, but of course there are many other ways that I am sure I haven’t thought of yet. The first is I am asking in lieu of wedding gifts or adoption gifts for their new daughter contribute to the TAG THE BAG fundraiser. This fundraiser will help to offset the costs for international adoption (for which there are plenty). How does the TAG THE BAG fundraiser work? Everyone who contributes financially or offers other support will have their name written on a suitcase to allow their daughter the opportunity to bring back her personal items with her from the orphanage to Boston.
