Want to join me in making a difference? I'm walking the Kokoda track in August of 2024 to raise money to benefit Cancer Council Australia, and any donation will help make an impact. Cancer Council is Australia's leading non-government cancer charity, and the only charity that works across every aspect of every cancer, from research to prevention and support. Their vision is a cancer free future. Every day, they work tirelessly to support people affected by cancer when they need it most - by speaking out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empowering people to reduce their cancer risk, and finding new ways to better detect and treat cancer. Working with the Cancer Council for the past 12 years and seeing first-hand the tragedy that cancer brings to families, including my own, makes me passionate about trying to make a difference to those suffering from this vicious disease. Why Kokoda? "The Kokoda is a single-file foot trail that runs 96 kilometres through the Owen Stanley Range in Papua New Guinea. The track was the location of the 1942 World War II battle between Japanese and Allied – primarily Australian – forces. Kokoda was a defining battle for Australia, in which a small force of young, ill-equipped Australians engaged a highly experienced and hitherto unstoppable Japanese force on a narrow, precarious jungle track - and defeated them." Peter Fitzsimons, 2016. My brother, our mates and I are walking the Kokoda Track to honour the Australians that fought and died in this campaign. Through raising money for the Cancer Council I hope to also honour the many family and friends that are fighting the battle against cancer every day. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me, your generosity is truly appreciated.
