Hi, my name is Amy and I'm creating a Go Fund Me fundraiser for one of my closest cousins (like my brother), Kitron Donovan. Kitron was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer: Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. He noticed a small lump on the roof of his mouth and his doctor thought it was nothing and would go away. During a routine dental cleaning a couple months later, Kitron asked his hygienist about it and they recommended he see an oral surgeon. Kitron had the lump removed by the OS and it was sent for testing. Over a couple weeks, he received news that the results were coming in as a possible rare form of cancer, but more testing would be required and he was referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We all hoped those initial tests were wrong. Kitron had full body scans at the Mayo and they took additional biopsies for testing. The results came back positive for ACC, he has more tissue on the roof of his mouth that is cancerous. Luckily the cancer was found and can be removed. However, this type of rare cancer is considered a chronic condition and can continue to return throughout his life to other areas of his body. Kitron has surgery scheduled for July 28th, they'll remove the affected tissue on the roof of his mouth, this includes part of his jaw bone and a few teeth. He'll need reconstructive surgery to repair his mouth, they'll be taking bone from his leg and doing a skin graph/transfer to his mouth. He'll need a feeding tube and be hooked up to a breathing machine due to the connection between your mouth and nose while he's healing. Unfortunately, this isn't the only bad news Kitron and his family have had to deal with in recent months. Kitron was laid off from his job before this diagnosis, and Beth is recovering from her own medical concerns and recently returned to work full time herself. Kitron has insurance through Beth, but not having an income and not knowing when he'll be able to return to work full-time is a financial hardship for them. Kitron will have to stay at the Mayo for a week after the procedure and stay in Rochester for at least 2 weeks following for close monitoring, so the cost of medical bills, gas, hotel etc will add up quickly. And she’s the only one working. Neither one of them wanted to do a Go Fund Me fundraiser, but there is still so much unknown at this time for him. Radiation treatments will most likely come next. Along with a painful recovery. If you know Kitron and Beth, they're supportive of the ones they love. They take in family when needed, they stick together. Our family has endured many trials and tribulations, but they never give up. They've had a ton of loss in the past few years, many losses that are very tragic and unexpected, those closest to them passing away. That's why I've created this fundraiser, hopefully, to help alleviate some of the financial stress on them. If you can give anything, please consider donating and/or sharing this Go Fund Me. Every little bit helps. Together, we can do so much more to help each other out. Please pray for strength, healing and guidance for Kitron, Beth and their family... This has been an overwhelming time for them. Thank you and much love to anyone that takes the time to read this. Amy
