Good Morning / Afternoon! Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Even if you cannot help and can only offer prayers; I appreciate those too. On October 23rd, it took all of 5 minutes for my life to change drastically. I started to cook dinner early for me and my son (lill man)..I had three pots on the stove, one with water, and another with oil, and the last one empty. I was going to use it for vegetables. I turned both pots on medium heat and went to use the restroom. It's something I have done plenty of times before, then all of the sudden I smelled smoke. I really did not think anything about it: just figured my neighbors were grilling. I go to check on my pots and encountered thick black smoke; and my kitchen on fire. None of my fire alarms went off to let me know what was happening. It's weird the batteries were recently changed, any other time they go off after getting out the shower. If it wasn't for construction workers who came in to help me, my whole house would have been lost, or even worse I could have lost my life, I did suffer from smoke inhalation while I was trying to stop the fire. What I cannot understand is how the fire started; no paper or plastic was around. Until the investigation is done, I won't know. After the fire department stopped the fire and checked my home. I was left with the realization that I didn't have any insurance to cover what I lost. Even though I am renting, I was told I will have to pay for all the damages. It is so hard for me to ask for help and I am so embarrassed. . I just know there is no way I can do this on my own right now. These are the things that I need help being replaced: Stove, this was only 4months old. I had to get a flat burner stove, at my expense because I have an autistic son who started playing with the burners, my manager wouldn't buy one of those so I did it for my son safety. · Hood that goes above the stove · Microwave · Pots and pans · coffee machine. · Cabinets to be restored or replaced at my expense. The manager says he can find a place to do it reasonable price I am so overwhelmed right now and wish I had another way to do this.If I have any extra left I will personally send back what I don't use.Thank you very much for taking the time to read more about my situation.
